A Realistic Guide to BF1942
by Kevlar

*ahem* I've just taken a moment to rethink my choice of words, here.

Figure 3: I guess I have to start giving real advice now. *glares* Let's start with special tactics involving bombing...

Phase 3: Advanced, Non-TK Tactics
Here's where things get interesting. The above picture is that of the Allied B17, an awe-inspiring bomber and useful base-smasher. The outlined path is a way to get onto its wings - accomplishable with all vehicles, but easiest (as far as planes go) to maintain with the B17. Why do so? Carrying a hardy Engineer with you holding on for dear life always helps survivability (well, not his, but yours). Since the B17 requires lots of air time and passes before its ammo is spent, you'll stay alive as you go, so long as he stays alive and onboard.

Figure 3A: BWAAAaaAAAAaaAaAaAaAaAA!
(Translation: An engineer on the wing of a B17 allows mid-flight repair, and the wings especially provide a good parachute drop platform for soldiers of all kinds. However, a good pilot is needed to take gentle turns and keep them onboard.)

Precision bombing:
As a general note to coincide with the B17, precision bombing is always easier for the pilot at low-to-mid altitudes, or if their name isn't T]WildWolf[S. Refer to the following:

Figure 3B: When bombing, start at 30-40 ft. above the ground, or dive and level at that altitude when releasing your payload. Release when the target disappears under the nose of the plane in first-person view. You'll need some practice to get it right, but you can consistently hit jeeps and landing craft with time.
(No, a supervillain laugh during the bombing run does not help accuracy. Nor does shrieking like a little girl. You've been warned, Target-[BL].)

A note on diving:
Some other topics that need mentioning - firstly, diving down a steep hill almost lends a TRIBES-like skiing effect that speeds your character up. Secondly, while everyone knows about the Jeep's coolness (it is my new God, after all), there is a second Allied vehicle worth using...

Figure 3C: The US Halftrack is an extremely versatile vehicle. Flat surfaces make it easy to rig for special purposes - this is my personal creation, Truck McBomb™. It's a little... Unstable... At the moment. But it blows up real good.

The Halftrack:
The Allied Halftrack is a killer vehicle because not only will it carry many soldiers (in back and on top), it is just as effective as a one-man gun platform. Play as an engineer, grab one, and bring it out to the front. The Browning (position 2) is self-sustaining, so you never need to return for reloading and you can repair it yourself. What if you're wounded/dry? Jump in back (positions 3 through 6) for ammo and health to keep yourself going as well.

It's teh page 3!!1
